Job Description

Torch Technologies is seeking a Cybersecurity Test Engineer to join a team providing cybersecurity support to the 96 Cyberspace Test Group (CTG), 48th Cybersecurity Test Squadron (CTS). This position will coordinate and conduct cybersecurity assessment testing of the most advanced software and weapons applications. Additionally, you will work directly with the developmental test engineers as well as System Program Offices in efforts to help design/develop a consistent, reliable, and efficient test environment for advanced US Air Force and Space Force Command and Control (C2) systems. This position is located at Langley, AFB, Virginia.


This position requires a highly motivated individual with experience in leading technical and operational teams, developing milestones and training plans for operational fielding, training and exercise execution. Essential duties include:

Conduct system security analysis on systems and/or software to understand and identify vulnerabilities.

Agent to the Security Control Assessor for multiple Authorizing Officials (AOs)

Conduct independent compliance assessments, data collection, test automation, and reporting.

Develop test tools and strategies for cybersecurity testing in DoD.

Perform system security analysis on systems and/or software to understand and identify vulnerabilities.

Execute hands-on testing which include significant technical skills with multiple operating systems. (Windows, Linux, Unix, IOS (network)) as well as software/databases (SQL Server, Oracle).

Provide technical guidance and expertise to test teams.

Document and communicate test results effectively to technical and non-technical user groups in written and oral formats.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field and at minimum of 3 years of technical experience is required. Six years of technical experience may be substituted for a technical BS Degree or four years of applicable technical experience and an applicable Associates Degree.

CERTIFICATIONS: Must be able to obtain DOD 8570 IAT Level 3 certification (CASP, CISSP, etc.) within 6 months of hire, and maintain certification throughout employment.

SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE: Knowledge in the Cybersecurity Assess and Authorize (A&A) process to support DoD acquisition programs through the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process.

Analytical skills and problem solving skills.

Good organization, decision making, and verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent self-initiative and self-motivation with the ability to work under minimal supervision.

Ability to work effectively in small and large team settings to solve complex problems.

Significant knowledge of Windows and Linux Operating Systems

Web-based application security concepts

Position requires that candidate possess an active security clearance in order to access classified material. Inability to maintain a security clearance will result in the candidate being ineligible to support this position.

Preferred Skills

Experience as a penetration tester and leading test events

Understanding of network security/engineering.

Knowledge of common wired and wireless network protocol structures.

Proficient in software development.

Experience using interpreted languages (Python, Ruby, PHP, etc)

Knowledge of compiled languages (C, C++, Assembly, Java, etc).
